The Easter window competition was won by no-one! No-one guessed the correct number of chickens. There were 36.
So what’s happening here? We’ve had several very quiet months, which isn’t so good for business, but it is good for brainstorming and deciding where the business is going to go in the next few months. We’ve teamed up with Vintage Tree (vintagetree.co.uk) who specialise in refurbished and painted antique furniture and cool homewares. We are designing and setting up our vintage window display at the end of May, to commemorate the Queen’s Jubilee. It’s also our local children’s gala weekend and the 3 Harbour’s Art Festival at the beginning of June, so hopefully we will see more footfall in the village. The window display will be an opportunity to show off Vintage Tree, our own range of food items and to celebrate all things food, furniture and fabulous! We really hope that by introducing Vintage Tree to The Howff will make us a real destination shop. Stay with us as we develop this side to the business.
On a more serious note, supporting local independent shops is more important than ever. Use us or lose us – it’s a good thing to remember.

Come on folks! There’s a box of Easter Chocolates at stake!
Competition finishes on Saturday, 31st March. Correct guess drawn at random.

Eggs-traordinary Egg Mayo
Posted: 14/03/2012 Filed under: Uncategorized | Tags: Egg Mayo, Eggs Leave a comment »I was reading a little piece in yesterday’s Daily Mail about a shortage of eggs, leading to a shortage of egg products. This has to do with new EU regulations regarding the sale of battery hen eggs.
I am pleased to inform my customers that the eggs used in the shop are, and have always been, free range. These are the eggs that I used in the egg mayo and also for the hot filled rolls. No wonder they’re so good!
They are also available to buy, in medium and large sizes. The eggs are supplied by R. Sommerville, Dalkeith, and are delivered every week.

There’s a whole load of special days coming up – Mother’s Day and Easter (also my birthday, but I don’t think that warrants celebration) – and we have lots of lovely new bright stock in the shop.
For gift ideas why not come in and see our hamper ideas? Or make up your own. Many items compliment each other, and all are ideal as gifts. For a small charge we can also giftwrap them for you. Hampers can be delivered locally.

This has been a long time coming, so please keep popping back. You may see a lot of changes, things being added and taken away, before we settle on the right look. It’s not easy, trying to get a website right, and we are open to tips and hints. Our aim is to have this front page as a way to highlight our special offers and deals, and then the pages behind for more information.
And remember to pop in to our shop when you’re hungry! We’re in Port Seton, just off the A1 South. Look forward to seeing you.
P.S The Eat East Lothian campaign starts soon. Come into the shop to see what we stock.
